Assassin's Creed Shadows Completion Timeline Revealed
Primary Story Campaign Estimated at 30-40 Hours

Assassin's Creed Shadows will offer a substantial 30-40 hour main campaign experience. During Kyoto's showcase event, Genki Gamer interviewed Creative Director Johnathan Dumont about game specifics.
Dumont confirmed the main storyline will require 30-40 hours to complete, supplemented by over 80 hours of additional side content. The development team is evaluating implementing New Game+ and other player-requested features post-launch – particularly significant since Valhalla notably omitted this feature despite fan demand.
The director highlighted Shadows' innovative elements including dynamic seasons and weather, fresh gameplay systems, an enhanced customizable Hideout, and a new Animus narrative connecting to future franchise installments.
Realizing the Japanese Assassin's Creed Vision

Dumont expressed how creating historical Japan has been a long-standing aspiration for the team. Technological advancements now allow authentic representation of Japan's natural landscapes alongside compelling storytelling.
The project draws cinematic inspiration from classics like 13 Assassins and Kurosawa films while integrating unique Assassin's Creed elements. Addressing recent controversies, particularly regarding Yasuke's inclusion, Dumont stated the team welcomes constructive feedback while remaining focused on delivering an exceptional gaming experience to Japanese fans.
Exploring the Hideout System
Izumi Settsu's Secluded Valley Base

The newly revealed Hideout, strategically positioned in Izumi Settsu province, serves as players' operational headquarters for establishing regional Brotherhood influence.
"This represents ambitious evolution," explained Systems Associate Director Dany. "Following various player bases throughout franchise history, we aimed for radical innovation – granting complete architectural freedom."
Players receive an expansive plot to craft their ideal compound, placing structures, gardens, and decorations that progressively unlock as they advance through Shadows' narrative.
A Living Community Hub

The Hideout transforms into a vibrant community housing allies who dynamically interact based on facility placement – warriors training in dojos or colleagues socializing in teahouses.
"Centralizing allies enables deeper character development," Dany elaborated. "Our international writing teams crafted organic interactions imagining how these personalities would coexist." This creates emergent storytelling opportunities and makes the Hideout feel genuinely lived-in.
These meticulously designed systems demonstrate Ubisoft's commitment to delivering an immersive Japanese historical experience through Assassin's Creed Shadows.
