Phasmophobia developer Kinetic Games confirms an "extremely close collaboration" with Blumhouse for the upcoming film adaptation.

In an exclusive IGN interview about the newly redesigned Grafton Farmhouse map, art director Corey J. Dixon shared insights about translating Phasmophobia's groundbreaking gameplay into cinema through Blumhouse.

While skeptics might assume this could become just another generic ghost-hunting movie, Dixon emphasizes this will be distinctly a "Phasmophobia experience" specifically crafted for dedicated fans.

"We've established an exceptional partnership with Blumhouse. It's phenomenal," Dixon revealed. "This won't be just another supernatural film - we're ensuring it authentically captures Phasmophobia's essence. We're collaborating intensively to create something our community will truly appreciate."

"They've shown tremendous willingness to incorporate our vision, and naturally, we're fully engaged in the process," he continued. "The synergy is incredible, and I'm confident fans will be thrilled with the final product."

Kinetic Games' acclaimed paranormal investigation title entered Hollywood development last month through a partnership with horror powerhouse Blumhouse (known for Five Nights at Freddy's, The Conjuring Universe, and M3gan). Currently, production details remain under wraps with no confirmed writers, directors, or cast.

Kinetic Games director Daniel "Dknighter" Knight celebrated the announcement: "This represents a monumental milestone for our entire team and the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Five years ago, we never imagined Phasmophobia would reach these stratospheric heights. We're profoundly grateful to our incredible community for the game's enduring influence across gaming and popular culture."

"Collaborating with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster opens an exciting new chapter," Knight added. "We eagerly anticipate sharing more details as development progresses."

Blumhouse's recent track record with game adaptations drew mixed reactions - their Five Nights at Freddy's adaptation earned a 4/10 from us: "The cinematic version of the indie horror phenomenon suffers from excessive narrative and insufficient tension from the game's signature surveillance terror." A franchise sequel arrives December 2025.
