Ryan Reynolds in Early Talks for Deadpool and X-Men Movie

Author: Violet May 27,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of bringing a new Deadpool and X-Men movie to life, although nothing has been pitched to Marvel yet. According to THR, Reynolds envisions an ensemble film where Deadpool shares the spotlight with three or four other X-Men characters. Notably, Reynolds wants these characters to take center stage and be "used in unexpected ways," rather than Deadpool being the main focus.

This project is separate from the X-Men movie that Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie is working on. Reynolds is known for developing his ideas independently before presenting them to Marvel. Interestingly, the early concept for what eventually became Deadpool & Wolverine was initially imagined as a low-budget road trip movie. This isn't the first time we've heard about Reynolds working on an ensemble movie for Deadpool, but the new details provide more context about the potential adventures awaiting the Merc With a Mouth.

As for which X-Men might join Deadpool, the possibilities are wide open. Deadpool has previously worked alongside various X-Men members and their adversaries in his films, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit.
