"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Iconic Line Flub"

Author: David May 25,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered revitalizes one of Bethesda's landmark titles with enhanced visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and additional content. However, the team at Virtuos made a conscious decision to preserve one of the original game's most memorable quirks.

Veteran fans of the Elder Scrolls series are likely familiar with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 nearly two decades ago, it became evident that Tandilwe's speech could use some refinement. Her voice lines included a now-famous recording where actress Linda Kenyon can be heard attempting a line multiple times, a mistake that has since become iconic.

As players delved into the newly remastered world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how much of the original game's charm had been preserved. While the environments, character models, and items have been significantly updated, fans were delighted to discover that many of the original game's quirks, including Tandilwe's humorous blooper, have been kept intact. The line remains as it was nearly 20 years ago, complete with its lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview on the YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon, upon learning of her blooper's internet fame, humorously remarked, "It wasn't my fault!"

While the community debates whether The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered leans more towards a remake than a remaster, many players are thrilled to see that much of the original game's charm and imperfections have been preserved. This decision by Bethesda and Virtuos to maintain these elements has been well-received by both new and returning players.
