Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will mark the end of the Warner Bros. platform fighting game, with the final curtain falling on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio shared this news through a detailed blog post on its website. MultiVersus, which debuted on May 28 of the previous year, will kick off its final Season 5 on February 4, running until its scheduled end date. At that point, online support will cease, but players can continue to enjoy all their earned and purchased content offline through local gameplay and training modes.
In a heartfelt message, the MultiVersus team expressed their gratitude: “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Player First Games has also confirmed that real-money transactions for MultiVersus are no longer available as of today. However, fans can still use Gleamium and character tokens to access in-game content until the support ends on May 30. At that time, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The decision to end MultiVersus comes after Warner Bros. Discovery labeled the project a major disappointment. In a November financial call, the company revealed that MultiVersus fell short of expectations, leading to a $100 million writedown in its games sector. This added to a total of $300 million in losses following the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January. Additionally, Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad announced his departure from the company last week, amidst a challenging 2024.
"We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during the November call.
Despite the closure coming just days after the game's one-year anniversary, Season 5 promises to end on a high note. Alongside regular seasonal updates, new characters Lola Bunny and Aquaman will join the roster. Lola Bunny, the Looney Tunes star, can be unlocked as a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman, the DC superhero, will be accessible through the battle pass. Both characters will be available starting next week, ensuring a thrilling finale for MultiVersus fans.
