Metal Gear Solid Delta Debuts Snake Eater Opening

As we edge closer to the August launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the opening cinematic for this stealth adventure.

While it features subtle variations, the intro will feel immediately recognizable to longtime fans—from the newspapers flashing across the screen to the return of the original James Bond-style theme song, once again performed by Cynthia Harrell.

The trailer previews several key moments from the game—though without giving away too much context—including Snake diving backward off a waterfall like an Olympian, and Snake the legendary “Snake Eater” consuming a snake. A fitting touch.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a ground-up remake of Konami’s classic 2004 action espionage title, originally released without the “Delta” subtitle. Konami recently confirmed the game will launch on August 28, and shared that the fan-favorite Snake vs. Monkey minigame is set to return. It will also retain mature content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the suggestive Peep Demo Theatre mode, as indicated by an age rating description.

“Metal Gear Solid Delta feels more like a highly polished HD remaster than the truly reimagined experience it might have been,” IGN noted in our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, which explores Snake’s new first-person viewpoint. “It's a visually stunning trip down memory lane, though perhaps a bit too faithful for its own good.” We originally gave Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater a stellar 9.6 score.
