Schedule I, an indie drug dealing simulator, is at the center of a copyright dispute with Movie Games S.A., the studio behind The Drug Dealer Simulator series. According to the Polish Press Agency on April 3, Movie Games S.A. completed a legal review and determined that Schedule I may have infringed upon intellectual property rights related to The Drug Dealer Simulator. Their findings suggest similarities in storyline, game mechanics, and even user interface design.

Although no official ruling has been issued, fans have quickly taken sides—with Schedule I seemingly gaining more support. In response, The Drug Dealer Simulator and its sequel have been hit with a wave of negative reviews on Steam, now labeled "Overwhelmingly Negative" and "Mostly Negative" respectively.

Many of the recent negative reviews accuse Movie Games S.A. of unfairly targeting an indie developer and acting hypocritically, noting that similar games in the past went unchallenged until Schedule I's release. This backlash comes despite the series previously earning praise from critics and players as one of the top criminal management games available.

Schedule I is a cooperative crime simulation where players begin as low-level drug dealers and climb the ranks to become crime lords. Launched in Early Access on PC on March 25, the game has earned "Overwhelmingly Positive" ratings on Steam and currently ranks as the platform’s second top-selling title, outperforming well-known games like inZOI, Monster Hunter Wilds, and the indie project R.E.P.O. SteamDB reports Schedule I reached an all-time peak of 459,075 concurrent players at the time of writing.

Here at Game8, we found Schedule I delivers a surprisingly engaging and satisfying experience—think of it as a "Breaking Bad" simulator. For more details on our early access impressions, take a look at our article below!
