Infinity Nikki: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Open-World Fashion Adventure
A new 25-minute documentary offers an inside look at the development of the highly anticipated open-world fashion game, Infinity Nikki, launching December 4th (EST/PST). The film highlights the dedication and passion of the team, showcasing their journey from initial concept to final product.
Exploring the World of Miraland
The project began in December 2019, with the goal of creating an open-world experience for Nikki, allowing her to freely explore and adventure. To maintain secrecy, a separate office was established. The team spent over a year laying the groundwork and building the game's infrastructure. Game designer Sha Dingyu describes the unique challenge of integrating the established Nikki IP's dress-up mechanics into a completely new open-world setting, a process that required building a framework from scratch.
The documentary underscores the team's commitment to evolving the Nikki franchise, which started with NikkiUp2U in 2012. Infinity Nikki marks the fifth installment and the first on PC and consoles. The producer's creation of a clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree exemplifies the team's passion and dedication.
The video showcases the stunning landscapes of Miraland, focusing on the magical Grand Millewish Tree and its inhabitants, the Faewish Sprites. The vibrant world is brought to life by the detailed routines of the NPCs, who continue their daily lives even during gameplay, creating a dynamic and immersive environment. Game designer Xiao Li highlights this as a key design element, contributing to the game's realism.
A World-Class Team
The game's stunning visuals are a testament to the talent assembled for Infinity Nikki. In addition to the core Nikki series team, the developers recruited experienced international talent. This includes Lead Sub Director Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, a veteran game designer who worked on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and concept artist Andrzej Dybowski, whose credits include The Witcher 3.
From the official start of development on December 28th, 2019, to the December 4th, 2024 launch, the team dedicated 1814 days to bringing their vision to life. Join Nikki and Momo on their adventure in Miraland this December!
