Paramount Pictures has announced significant changes to its movie release schedule, pushing back the premiere dates for two highly anticipated Nickelodeon films: The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2.
According to Variety, the eagerly awaited Avatar movie, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, originally set for January 30, 2026, has been delayed to October 9, 2026. This marks a nearly nine-month delay from the previously announced date, and it is the second time the film's release has been postponed. Initially, it was slated for October 10, 2025. Paramount has also unveiled a new logo for the film, which you can view below.
No specific reason for the delay was provided, but it has been confirmed that the voice cast, including Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam, will continue to be part of the project. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will explore the journey of the original Avatar protagonist set many years after the conclusion of the beloved series. The film received its official title at last month's CinemaCon and is the first of a planned trilogy set in the Avatar universe.
The sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, announced shortly before the first film's premiere in 2023, has also been delayed. The follow-up, which was initially set to release on October 9, 2026, will now premiere on September 17, 2027, pushing back the release by nearly a year. Fans will have to wait longer to see how the story continues from the first movie's intriguing mid-credits scene. While plot and cast details remain undisclosed, the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series offers a way to stay engaged with the franchise in the interim.
