Akatsuki Games has announced the end-of-service (EOS) for their latest game, Tribe Nine. Launched just a few months ago in February across Android, iOS, and PC via Steam, the news of its impending closure has left many fans stunned. Let's delve into the details surrounding its shutdown and explore the reasons behind its early demise.
When Is the Tribe Nine EOS?
Tribe Nine is set to officially shut down on November 27th, 2025. Alongside this announcement, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that Chapter 4 of the main story will not be released, despite recent in-game teases that had built anticipation. This decision is particularly disappointing for fans eager to see the story unfold.
As of May 15th, all new updates, features, bug fixes, and content releases have been canceled. This means that any promised adjustments or new features mentioned in earlier game notices are no longer in development.
Two anticipated characters, Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, who were slated to join the game's roster, will not be added. Additionally, refunds will be issued for Paid Enigma Entities used on items such as Armed Support, Advanced Support, and the Support Contract – Revenio. These refunds will be processed once the Revenio contract concludes.
Furthermore, the purchase of Enigma Entities and Daily Passes has been disabled across both the app and web store. However, players can continue to use their existing Enigma Entities until the official shutdown of Tribe Nine.
Why Did It Fail So Soon?
Tribe Nine is a free-to-play extreme action RPG known for its unique style and worldbuilding. Despite its quality, the game faced challenges from the outset.
A major issue was its slow content release schedule, with only one story chapter and one event being introduced over three months. Additionally, the game's monetization model did not encourage spending. Players could assemble a strong team with just one pull, and duplicate characters were not necessary, which, while beneficial for players, did not generate sufficient revenue for the developers.
It seems that adopting a gacha system was a risky move for Tribe Nine, and ultimately, it did not succeed. Despite this, the game remains playable until its shutdown date on November 27th, 2025. If you haven't yet experienced Tribe Nine, you can still give it a try on the Google Play Store.
