Eye Track Driving Launches on Android via Open Drive

Open Drive is a mobile racing game that goes beyond simple entertainment and is now available in early access for Android. Developed by the charity organization SpecialEffect, which is dedicated to making video games accessible to players with physical disabilities, the game was created in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios.

What Is Open Drive All About?

The game is engineered to adapt to your preferred playstyle, supporting touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, and controller inputs. Its design prioritizes inclusivity for every player.

Even players who use alternative input methods like eye-gaze technology can enjoy this open-world driving experience on mobile. A key highlight is the mobile-specific eye control feature, which allows you to steer by simply looking left or right with a compatible eye-tracking camera.

This represents a significant advancement in accessibility, particularly for players with motor impairments who find traditional touch or gamepad controls challenging. The eye control function is available across all four of the game's open-world environments: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

The gameplay offers great flexibility. You can relax and cruise around collecting orbs, or aim for high scores by performing impressive jumps with vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. Open Drive Is Now Available in Early Access

The game automatically detects your chosen control method and adjusts the interface accordingly, with full support for Switch Access on Android devices.

Each control scheme in Open Drive is thoughtfully configured. For touchscreen play, you can choose between 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes to steer via taps or directional swipes.

Similarly, the game provides distinct setups for Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads or controllers.

Open Drive is currently in early access on Android, though the eye control feature may not be fully implemented yet. The complete version is scheduled for release later this summer and will be free to play. If you're curious, you can download it now from the Google Play Store.
