NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage for the T-1000, a highly anticipated DLC guest character for Mortal Kombat 1, along with the announcement of Madam Bo as a new DLC Kameo fighter. The T-1000's gameplay trailer evokes nostalgic memories of Terminator 2, showcasing signature moves like blade and hook arm attacks that resemble those of Baraka and Kabal. The character's ability to transform into a liquid metal blob and execute an uppercut similar to Killer Instinct's Glacius further enhances the excitement.

Actor Robert Patrick, renowned for portraying the T-1000 in the 1991 film, lends his voice and likeness to the character in Mortal Kombat 1. The teaser includes Patrick's voice during a confrontation with Johnny Cage, culminating in a Fatality that recreates the iconic truck chase scene from Terminator 2. In this dramatic finish, the T-1000 emerges from the driver's seat to unleash a barrage of bullets on Johnny Cage.

PlaySimultaneously, NetherRealm surprised fans with the announcement of Madam Bo joining *Mortal Kombat 1* as a DLC Kameo fighter. Known from the base game's story, Madam Bo is an elderly restaurant owner who heroically defends against Smoke and his minions. The teaser provides a brief glimpse of Madam Bo assisting the T-1000 during a match with Johnny Cage.

The T-1000 will be available in Mortal Kombat 1 starting March 18 during the early access period for Khaos Reigns owners, with wider availability on March 25. Madam Bo will also be available starting March 18, either as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a standalone purchase.

As the final addition to the Khaos Reigns expansion, the T-1000 follows other notable DLC characters such as Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Amidst speculation about future content, fans are curious if NetherRealm will introduce a third set of DLC characters or a Kombat Pack 3, especially given questions surrounding Mortal Kombat 1's sales performance.

Warner Bros. Discovery continues to express confidence in the Mortal Kombat franchise. CEO David Zaslav mentioned in November that the company plans to focus intensely on four key titles, including Mortal Kombat.

Madam Bo is set to enhance Mortal Kombat 1 as a Kameo fighter. In September, Ed Boon, the chief of Mortal Kombat development, confirmed that NetherRealm had chosen its next project three years ago but assured continued support for Mortal Kombat 1.

While many fans anticipate a third installment in the Injustice series, neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. has confirmed this. The Injustice series began with Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013, followed by Injustice 2 in 2017. Instead of alternating between Mortal Kombat and Injustice, NetherRealm released Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019 and then Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023.

In a June 2023 interview with IGN, Ed Boon discussed the decision to focus on another Mortal Kombat game, citing factors like the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to a newer version of the Unreal game engine. Boon emphasized the studio's commitment to safety and the desire to leverage the new engine's capabilities. He also reassured fans that the door remains open for future Injustice games, stating, "Not at all," when asked if the franchise was closed off.
