Star Wars Outlaws has just expanded its universe with the release of its first story DLC, A Pirate’s Fortune, now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. At the heart of this new adventure is the beloved Weequay pirate, Hondo Ohnaka, whose charm and roguish ways have captivated fans from his appearances in the Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, shared insights on the inspiration behind the DLC. "We always knew because there were so many passionate people on the team that we needed to feature Hondo. And, you know, that scoundrel fantasy of Kay mixing with the pirate fantasy of Hondo, it just kind of makes sense, right?" Rechner explained in an interview with IGN. The narrative explores Kay's journey of self-discovery and leadership, with Hondo serving as a mentor—or perhaps something more ambiguous, adding layers of intrigue to the storyline.

A Pirate’s Fortune introduces players to the Rokana Raiders crime gang and the Miyuki Trade League, the latter of which provides Kay with crucial upgrades for her Trailblazer ship. Additionally, a new blaster capability, Shock, enhances gameplay, offering players fresh tactical options.

Excitement continues to build as Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4. While Rechner remained tight-lipped about specific new features for this platform, he assured fans that more details would be forthcoming. "In terms of a specific feature set, that's something that we will get into later. So we'll have more stuff to talk about later," he teased. Potential enhancements could include utilizing the Switch 2's innovative controllers as a mouse and integrating a new GameChat feature, promising an enriched gaming experience.
