EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise for fans. As of today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are back on PC through two newly released Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA has announced the launch of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection for PC. These collections are available individually or bundled together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40.
Both games come with all their expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but aside from that, everything else is included. Additionally, both collections offer bonus content: The Sims 1 features the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 includes the Grunge Revival Kit alongside other add-ons.
EA's re-release of these classic The Sims games is a significant event, marking the first time in over a decade that both titles have been readily available. The Sims 1, previously only available on disc, has been inaccessible without a physical copy and compatibility with modern Windows systems. The Sims 2, last seen in 2014 as part of the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, was also unavailable until now. These new collections make all four The Sims games easily accessible and playable again through digital platforms.
Upon their initial reviews, we rated The Sims 1 at 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 at 8.5/10. Despite the numerous advancements in the series over the years, the original games remain cherished for their unique charm, simplicity, challenging gameplay, and historical significance.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
