The developers behind Hollow Knight: Silksong have clarified the game's brief appearance during Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase 2025, where it was showcased alongside the new ROG Ally X handheld.

During the presentation, Xbox president Sarah Bond mentioned Silksong would be "available at launch and in Game Pass when the Ally releases later this year" - leading many to speculate the game might be a launch title for the upcoming hardware scheduled for Holiday 2025.

However, Team Cherry has officially dismissed this assumption. Marketing manager Matthew 'Leth' Griffin addressed the community on the game's Discord, stating clearly: "We are not tied to a console release." He confirmed Silksong would arrive before the holiday season, specifically clarifying he meant Christmas 2025 when asked for clarification.

While no exact release date was provided, an interesting clue suggests the game could launch sooner than expected. Silksong will be playable at Australia's national museum of screen culture in Melbourne starting September 18 - could this indicate an early fall release window?

Fans had anticipated more concrete release information during the Xbox showcase, especially after multiple updates to the game's Steam page hinted at an imminent launch. Instead, Xbox saved its surprise release announcement for Final Fantasy 16, leaving Silksong enthusiasts waiting for definitive news.

IGN has already published its hands-on review of the ROG Ally X for those considering playing Silksong on the upcoming handheld. With Christmas now just six months away, the wait for Silksong may finally be nearing its end.
