Silent Hill f Layers Horror Elements from Previous Games
Psychological & Supernatural Horror Merged Like "Salad Dressing"

Marking Konami's first main-series entry in over a decade since Silent Hill: Downpour (2012), Silent Hill f was detailed at Anime Expo 2025. Writer Ryukishi07, alongside producer Motoi Okamoto and composer Akira Yamaoka, likened the game's narrative pacing to "salad dressing."
Elaborating on this metaphor, Ryukishi07 described a story centered on a single theme where psychological and supernatural elements mix "like oil and vinegar"—unified at first, then gradually separating as the plot unfolds. "From different perspectives," the writer noted, "this is not merely a tale of fear, but also one of sorrow and love," offering players deeper themes to reflect upon.

During the panel, Producer Motoi Okamoto shared that Silent Hill f originated from a goal to craft a game embodying "100% pure Japanese horror." He observed that while the original series skillfully fused Western and Japanese horror, the latter element faded over time. Reports from Famitsu suggest strong fan desire for a return to these cultural roots significantly shaped the project.
Embracing this vision, the game unfolds in the 1960s Showa-era town of Ebisugaoka, Japan—a stark shift from the franchise's typical American locales. This period of rapid modernization, social strain, and post-war unease has led many fans to draw parallels with towns that faced similar isolation and decline. Given these elements, it's clear Silent Hill f builds upon the series' psychological core while delving into the era's complex cultural tensions.
Silent Hill f arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 25. The Digital Deluxe Edition grants early access starting September 23. For the latest updates, check out our related article below!
