LEGO The Simpsons: Krusty Burger
Available June 1st for LEGO Insiders, June 4th worldwide. $209.99 exclusively at LEGO.
We spoke with Senior Model Designer Ann Healy about reviving The Simpsons in LEGO form after nearly a decade. With six years at LEGO, Healy has contributed to sets like Disney's Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sisters' Cottage and McLaren F1 collections.
Which past LEGO projects have you worked on?
Healy: After three years designing LEGO Friends sets, I helped create Hocus Pocus' Sanderson Sisters' Cottage - a passion project that took years to perfect. Currently on the LEGO Icons team, I designed last year's McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna set and Botanical Collection Poinsettia.

Why revive The Simpsons LEGO line now?
Healy: Market research confirmed enduring global love for The Simpsons among LEGO fans. The Krusty Burger continues our Simpsons legacy while introducing new exclusive minifigures. Ironically, I'd bought the original Simpsons House set before joining LEGO. Discovering an early Krusty Burger prototype during my first week felt serendipitous.
Five years later, when Marketing proposed reviving the prototype, I immediately volunteered as a lifelong Simpsons fan. That childhood passion meeting professional opportunity was magical.
Walk us through the design process.
Healy: We refined the old prototype digitally first, ensuring physical brick compatibility through iterative builds. The model underwent over 20 complete reconstructions during development. Team check-ins with Creative Leads, IP partners, and Model Governance ensured authenticity and playability.
The final quality check involved building from production samples - my last of many Krusty Burger assemblies!

How did you adapt Krusty Burger's inconsistent show appearances?
Healy: Disney provided reference materials, while repeated viewings of episodes like "Coming to Homerica" (featuring the Mother Nature Burger) and "I'm Spelling as Fast as I Can" (showcasing the Ribwich) helped establish visual continuity.
Key referenced episodes include:
"Homie the Clown" (Homer performing at Krusty Burger), "Day of the Jackanapes" (Bart/Sideshow Bob scenes), and "Treehouse of Horror XX"'s parody segment.
Favorite hidden detail?
Healy: The drive-thru screen showing a 700-burger order references Season 5's "Boy-Scoutz 'n the Hood," where Krusty disastrously opens an offshore location.

Biggest design challenge?
Healy: Perfecting Krusty's face proportions for the sign required illustrator colleagues and IP partner sketches. Structural innovation came through a prototype axle sleeve that stabilized the heavy sign.
Are more Simpsons sets coming?
Healy: While I can't confirm future products, as a fan I hope this rekindles enthusiasm for LEGO Simpsons collaborations!
