Troubleshooting "Serialization Error Action Needed" in Ready or Not
1. Verify Game Files:
This is the first troubleshooting step. Ensure Steam isn't in offline mode.
- Locate Ready or Not in your Steam Library.
- Right-click, select "Properties," then "Local Files," and finally "Verify Integrity of Game Files."
- Steam will scan and replace any corrupted or missing files. Retry launching the game. If successful, the issue is resolved.
2. Disable Mods:
Outdated or incompatible mods, especially those not updated for Unreal Engine 5 (post-July 2024), are frequent culprits.
- In your Steam Library, right-click Ready or Not, select "Manage," then "Browse Local Files."
- Navigate to
ReadyorNot\Content\Paks
. - Delete the
mod.io
folder. This will disable all mods.
3. Reinstall Mods (One by One):
After disabling mods, you can selectively reinstall them.
- Check the update dates of your mods on Nexus Mods, Mod.io, or your preferred source.
- Only reinstall mods updated after July 2024 (the UE5 update).
- Install one mod at a time, relaunching Ready or Not to test. If the error reappears, the newly installed mod is the problem; remove it.
4. Clean Reinstall (Last Resort):
If all else fails, uninstall and reinstall Ready or Not completely. While less likely, hard drive corruption could also be a factor. However, outdated mods are the primary cause of this error.
Ready or Not is available on PC.
