Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing a sleek addition to its flagship smartphone lineup. While it shares many similarities with the earlier-released Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge stands out with its notably thinner design, aptly named for its edge.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both devices are powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boast a 200MP camera. The key differentiator is the chassis, which has been slimmed down to an impressive 5.8mm from the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction not only makes the phone thinner but also lighter, tipping the scales at just 163g.
Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard Galaxy S25, which is nearly identical to the 6.9-inch display on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Given its thin and large form factor, durability is a significant concern. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While this should offer better protection against drops, the real test will be its resilience to everyday mishaps, such as sitting on it. Will it withstand the dreaded bendgate scenario?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also includes the suite of "Mobile AI" tools that debuted with the Galaxy S24 and were enhanced throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables robust on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy by minimizing reliance on cloud services. However, some AI applications will still require cloud connectivity. Notable features include the ability to summarize notifications and news articles at a glance, offering users a quick and efficient way to stay informed.
Available for preorder starting today, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes in two storage options: the 256GB model at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. It is offered in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung emphasizes the durability of this slender phone; we can only hope it lives up to the promise.
