Respawn Abandons Secret Titanfall Multiplayer Project

A former employee of the studio recently disclosed on her LinkedIn profile that the development of a new game, which had been in progress for several years, was abruptly halted this week. Unfortunately, no specific reasons were provided for this decision. Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb noted that this project was not a mainline entry in the series, clarifying that it was not Titanfall 3. To bring this project to life, Respawn Entertainment established a dedicated "experimental team," specifically recruiting experts with a background in multiplayer shooter development.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project. Last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall series, renowned for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in combat as agile pilots or command formidable Titans. Since the debut of the original game in 2014, the franchise has captivated gamers with its distinctive gameplay, featuring parkour and intense team-based battles.

Currently, Respawn is channeling its efforts into developing the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, as well as a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe, in partnership with Bit Reactor. These projects highlight Respawn's ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences to fans around the world.
