Get ready for more action with Rambo's return in an exciting new prequel titled "John Rambo." Directed by Jalmari Helander, known for his work on "Sisu" and "Big Game," this film is set to explore Rambo's origins. According to Deadline, Millennium Media, the powerhouse behind the Expendables and Has Fallen series, is launching the project at the Cannes market. This event, which coincides with the Cannes Film Festival, showcases upcoming films seeking funding or distribution partners.

While details about the plot remain under wraps, "John Rambo" will delve into the Vietnam War era, serving as a prequel to the iconic 1982 film "First Blood." Although the legendary Sylvester Stallone is aware of the project, he is not involved at this stage. The screenplay has been crafted by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, the talented duo behind "The Mauritanian" and "Black Adam." Filming is slated to start in October in Thailand.

Jalmari Helander's previous work on the 2023 WWII action film "Sisu," which reimagined the John Wick concept with an elderly Finnish commando fighting Nazis, showcases his ability to deliver high-octane action. This makes him a fitting choice to bring the gritty world of Rambo to life once more.
