Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, unveils more about his groundbreaking AI life simulation, Proxi, in a recent Twitch livestream. This innovative game, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, promising a deeply personal and interactive experience.

A Personalized Journey Through Memory

Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi transforms players' real-life memories into vibrant, animated scenes. Players input their memories as text, and the game's AI engine brings them to life. These animated memories, called "mems," can be customized and refined using in-game assets.

Each new mem added to the game enhances the AI's understanding and expands the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment where memories are represented as hexagons. As the mind world grows, so does its population of Proxies—digital representations of the player's friends and family, each connected to related memories. This dynamic timeline allows players to arrange and interconnect memories, creating a rich tapestry of personal experiences.

Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox, extending the game's reach and possibilities.

Wright's vision for Proxi centers on forging "magical connections with memories." This focus on personal experiences stems from his belief that players deeply engage with games that reflect their own lives. He humorously noted, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
