Pokémon TCG: 151 Booster Bundle Now Available on Amazon - Still in Stock

Author: Scarlett May 21,2025

I've noticed that the Pokémon 151 booster bundles are back on Amazon, which could be exciting news for collectors. However, the excitement is somewhat tempered by the price, which is over double the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). While Amazon is listing the bundle for more than $60, the actual retail price is only $26.94. It's a bit of a stretch to call this a "deal," but considering how quickly this set sells out, it's hard to completely dismiss it.

What keeps drawing me back to the 151 set is its quality beyond mere nostalgia. The card art in this set is exceptional, far surpassing the typical shiny-on-a-blank-background design. For instance, the Illustration Rare Bulbasaur is depicted hiding amidst a jungle of giant leaves, reminiscent of a Ghibli film. It's beautifully executed. Then there's Alakazam ex, portrayed as if it's deep in study for a psychic PhD amidst a cluttered workspace. It's both charming and unique.

Charmeleon - 169/165

Price at TCG Player: $30.99

Bulbasaur - 166/165

Price at TCG Player: $37.99

Alakazam ex - 201/165

Price at TCG Player: $53.99

Squirtle - 170/165

Price at TCG Player: $40.99

Charizard ex - 183/165

Price at TCG Player: $35.40

The strength of this set lies in its seamless integration of art and gameplay. Cards like Blastoise ex not only boast solid abilities but also feature artwork that could easily hang in a gallery. Even Charmander has been given a boost, with 70 HP that helps it withstand chip damage that would have previously taken it out. These subtle yet significant enhancements encapsulate the set's overall approach.

Charmander - 168/165

Price at TCG Player: $45.05

Zapdos ex - 202/165

Price at TCG Player: $60.68

Blastoise ex - 200/165

Price at TCG Player: $60.00

Venusaur ex - 198/165

Price at TCG Player: $77.73

Charizard ex - 199/165

Price at TCG Player: $234.99

Not every card hits the mark. Zapdos ex, for example, is decent but not something I'd frame or build a deck around. Nevertheless, the overall quality remains high. Venusaur ex successfully blends functionality with style, and Squirtle's artwork manages the impressive feat of making a cartoon turtle look like it belongs in a real ecosystem. It's clear that a lot of thought and care went into these designs.

Paying above MSRP isn't ideal, but it's hard to deny that this set is packed with value. If you're looking for packs that are genuinely fun to open and offer a real chance at high-value pulls, the 151 set is still one of the better options out there. Just be prepared to pay whatever premium Amazon decides to charge on any given day.
