The release of the Switch 2 doesn't render the original Switch obsolete. With the sole exception of Mario Kart World Tour, every game playable on the new console remains fully compatible with the original Switch. As part of Amazon's Prime Day sale, an extra 30% discount is being offered on select items in the Resale section. Among these is the Used: Like New Nintendo Switch OLED console, which drops to just $224 after the 30% off coupon is applied automatically at checkout. Items labeled "Like New" are frequently brand new and unused, with any damage limited to the packaging. Fortunately, Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new products, making it easy to return the item if its condition doesn't meet your expectations.

If the modest price difference between the Switch OLED and the non-OLED model fits your budget, the upgrade is well worth considering. The Nintendo Switch OLED boasts a display that delivers superior image quality over the original LCD screen, featuring deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, and smoother color gradients. Text appears sharper and is easier to read. Although the screen size increase is slight (7 inches on the OLED versus 6.2 inches), the narrower bezels make it feel significantly larger. Other notable enhancements include a redesigned, more robust kickstand, a built-in ethernet port on the docking station, and an exclusive white console design with matching Joy-Con controllers.
The Switch 2 is Out, But the Original Switch Stays Relevant
The new Nintendo Switch 2 is now on the market, yet the original Switch console remains highly relevant. For one, the Switch 2 carries a significantly higher retail price of $449.99. Furthermore, currently only one major new triple-A title, Mario Kart World Tour, is available for it, retailing for $79.99 unless you can find a $500 bundle that includes the game. While some existing games receive visual and performance upgrades on the Switch 2, this incremental improvement may not justify the substantial price increase for many. Personally, I've decided to wait on purchasing a Switch 2 until more essential exclusive games are released or a particularly appealing special edition console becomes available.
