Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the Switch 2 Joy-Con's innovative mouse controls directly on the Home screen. This feature has been eagerly anticipated by fans ever since the initial reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, sparking widespread speculation about the new capabilities of the Joy-Con controllers. Last month, we received official confirmation that these Joy-Con can operate in a "mouse mode," allowing players to slide the controllers across surfaces to navigate menus and use the analog sticks to mimic left-click and right-click actions, similar to a standard mouse. Furthermore, users can employ two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, either one in each hand or one in standard mode paired with another in mouse mode, enhancing the flexibility of the controls.

Recently, more details emerged through the Nintendo Today app and were shared on X/Twitter, revealing that the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are not only functional but also enhance the user experience on the Switch 2's Home menu.

According to Nintendo, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown." Additionally, Nintendo stated, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus. Use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To switch back to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

Although the exact number of games that will support these mouse controls remains undisclosed, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
