With the next season of Daredevil on the horizon, fans are buzzing with excitement, and the creative minds behind the series are already pondering future possibilities, including a potential reunion of The Defenders. In a detailed profile featured on Entertainment Weekly (EW), Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of bringing back the street-level heroes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.
While no official plans have been confirmed, Winderbaum shared with EW, "It's certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox... Obviously, we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We're dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television."
He further elaborated, "But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."
Daredevil: Born Again is set to continue the saga that began on Netflix, and it's clear that the platform once hosted its own Marvel universe, albeit on a smaller scale, with series like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest that Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a springboard to reintroduce these characters to audiences on Disney's terms via Disney Plus. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season is a testament to this transition, marking another Netflix hero making the leap to Disney's streaming service.
For now, fans will need to wait until the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on March 4 to see how the story unfolds and how it might connect to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
