Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

Author: Henry May 21,2025

Nintendo Switch 2 enthusiasts should be aware of the intriguing pricing strategy for the upcoming console, which varies between Japan and the rest of the world. The new gaming system, Nintendo Switch 2, will be available in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system and a Multi-Language System. The Japanese version, exclusively sold in Japan, will be priced at approximately $330, significantly lower than the global Multi-Language System version, which will cost $449.99. This price disparity, over $100, can be attributed to the weak yen against the USD, making it less attractive for tourists to purchase the console in Japan.

Residents of Japan can choose between the two versions, but the Japanese-language system will only be accessible to those with a Nintendo Account set to Japan. This version supports solely Japanese and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For those looking to enjoy the Switch 2 in other languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
