Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for a fall 2025 release, as confirmed by its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. In their financial report for the third quarter ending December 31, 2024, Take-Two listed GTA 6 as set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, indicating no delays from the previously announced window.
In an interview with IGN before the financial report was released, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the fall 2025 release date. "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things," Zelnick stated. "So we feel really good about it."
When pressed for details on the development progress of GTA 6, Zelnick remained cautious. "Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally," he said. "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
The release date of GTA 6 is a major focal point in the entertainment industry, with competitors like EA closely monitoring the announcement. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently mentioned he might delay the new Battlefield game to avoid clashing with GTA 6's launch.

While the release window for GTA 6 remains steady, fans eagerly await the second trailer. Over a year has passed since the first trailer, sparking intense speculation. In the meantime, IGN offers more insights on GTA 6, including comments from an ex-Rockstar developer suggesting that a decision on any delay might not come until May 2025, Zelnick's elusive remarks about a PC version, and expert analysis on whether the PS5 Pro can handle GTA 6 at 60 frames per second.
Take-Two also reported that Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold 210 million units worldwide, with GTA Online experiencing a strong quarter thanks to the Agents of Sabotage update. GTA+ memberships saw a 10% increase year-over-year. Red Dead Redemption 2 has surpassed 70 million sales, with Take-Two noting a record level of concurrent players on Steam.
Take-Two's 2025 lineup is packed, featuring Civilization 7 from Firaxis, PGA Tour 2K25, and WWE 2K25 in March, Mafia: The Old Country in the summer, GTA 6 in the fall, and Gearbox’s Borderlands 4 before the year ends. "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term," Take-Two stated, expressing high confidence in achieving record Net Bookings in fiscal 2026 and 2027.
