Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a formidable new adversary set to replace the Marauder in the upcoming *DOOM: The Dark Ages*. Unlike the Marauder, Agadon isn't just an upgraded version but a wholly distinct enemy. This boss combines elements from various foes, showcasing the ability to dodge, evade, and deflect projectiles hurled by the Doom Slayer. Players will encounter a diverse array of combo attacks, necessitating the use of a sawtooth shield reminiscent of *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*—a significant influence on the game's developers. The confrontation with Agadon is designed to be the ultimate test of skills, serving as a comprehensive final exam of the player's journey through the game.
The developers chose to maintain the concept of a challenging boss, believing that players are eager for an elevated challenge. The previous dissatisfaction with the Marauder stemmed not from the difficulty itself but from its presentation and the lack of adequate explanation. Many mechanics required to defeat the Marauder were introduced abruptly without prior use in the campaign, which disrupted the game's pacing and led to player frustration. To address this, *DOOM: The Dark Ages* aims to introduce mechanics more smoothly and ensure better player preparation.
