A new chapter in the Avatar universe is set to unfold as Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios officially announce Avatar: Seven Havens. In honor of the beloved series' 20th anniversary, Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are bringing fans a fresh story within the same world they crafted over two decades ago.
Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D-animated series that introduces a new protagonist—a young Earthbender who becomes the next Avatar following Korra. Set in a world fractured by catastrophic events, the story follows this newly discovered Avatar, hunted by both humans and spirits alike. As she embarks on a perilous journey alongside her long-lost twin, they must unravel their mysterious origins while racing against time to save the Seven Havens from collapsing entirely.
According to a press release, the series will span two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, and delve deeper into themes of fantasy, mystery, and character development. DiMartino and Konietzko expressed excitement about returning to the Avatarverse, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation is full of wonder, intrigue, and unforgettable characters.”
The creative team behind Avatar: Seven Havens includes co-creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, along with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While casting details remain under wraps, the project marks the debut of Avatar Studios’ first mainline TV series. Additionally, the studio is working on a feature-length animated film focusing on an adult Aang, scheduled for theatrical release on January 30, 2026.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Avatar Studios is rolling out a comprehensive lineup of content, including new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a special experience in Roblox. Fans worldwide can look forward to diving deeper into the rich tapestry of the Avatar universe with these exciting additions.
