The cards we're showcasing today are included in the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, which is part of the larger main set. These are reprints of existing cards, reimagined with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. Although they don't introduce new or mechanically unique cards like those in the recently revealed Commander decks, they feature art that spans from the very first game in the series.

Unlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards are not legal in Magic's Standard format (though they retain legality if the original card was already legal there). They serve as alternate art versions of existing cards. These cards can be found in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.

If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll likely encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of Magic's widely recognized Lightning Bolt, and its presence in this set could have a significant impact.

The Warrior of Light reprinting of Jodah, the Unifier, is bound to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art used here is Amano's from the original Final Fantasy Japanese boxart. Additionally, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before.

These cards will be available physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions going live on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy enthusiast not yet into Magic, there's reason to get excited. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted at a unique design for Sephiroth on one card, adding an intriguing layer to the collection.
