12BT, also known as 12 Tehni, is a strategic two-player board game.
12BT (a traditional abstract strategy game) is a chess-like game for two players. Each participant controls 12 pieces called pawns, beads, Tehni, or Guti. Players have two movement options: first, they can move their piece to any adjacent empty space if all surrounding positions are vacant. Alternatively, they can capture an opponent's piece by jumping over it. The winner is the first player to capture all 12 of their opponent's pieces.
This game shares similarities with Draughts (also known as Checkers or Dame) and the Arabic game Alquerque (القرقات), sometimes called Quirkat or al-qirq. Other comparable games include Halma, Chinese Checkers, and Konane. While Alquerque's board setup resembles Bara Biti, Draughts features a different configuration. Players familiar with Draughts or Checkers will find it easy to learn Quirkat, Alquerque (القرقات), and 12BT.
