Rumor: Switch 2 Won’t Be Compatible With Vital Accessory

Nintendo Switch 2: Power Up with a New Charger?

Recent whispers suggest the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may require a more powerful charger than its predecessor. While official details remain scarce, leaks and rumors continue to surface, painting a picture of the console expected to launch before March 2025.

Several leaks have circulated, including images seemingly depicting the Switch 2. These images hint at a design echoing the original Switch, albeit with enhancements. Images of magnetic Joy-Con controllers have also surfaced, supporting previous claims about their tablet mode functionality.

A recent leak from journalist Laura Kate Dale, citing a BlueSky source, showcases a purported Switch 2 charging dock. Crucially, this leak indicates the Switch 2 will ship with a 60W power cable. This suggests the original Switch's charger may be insufficient for optimal charging, potentially resulting in slower charging times. While the older cable might work, a 60W cable is strongly recommended.

Charging Cable Compatibility Concerns

The anticipation for the Switch 2 has fueled a flurry of online speculation. Earlier leaks detailed development kits sent to game developers, hinting at potential titles such as a new Mario Kart and Monolith Soft's Project X Zone. Regarding hardware capabilities, the Switch 2 is rumored to boast graphical power comparable to the PlayStation 4 Pro, although some reports suggest a slightly lower performance level.

While the Switch 2 will include its own charger, the incompatibility with the original Switch's cable is a noteworthy detail. Gamers who might misplace their Switch 2 charger should avoid using the older, lower-wattage cable as a replacement, pending official confirmation of this rumor.
