Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Studio Reports More Layoffs

Rocksteady Studios, renowned for the acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, has faced further layoffs following the disappointing performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game's underperformance, reported in February, initially resulted in a significant reduction of the QA team in September – approximately half its workforce.

This latest round of job cuts, reported by Eurogamer, extends beyond QA, impacting programming and art teams. Several anonymous employees confirmed their recent termination. Warner Bros. remains silent on these developments, mirroring their response to the September layoffs.

The financial repercussions of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's poor sales have been substantial for both Rocksteady and WB Games. The game's post-launch content, including the recent addition of Deathstroke as a playable character, failed to revitalize sales. With the final update slated for release later this month, the studio's future projects remain uncertain.

The impact extends beyond Rocksteady. WB Games Montreal, responsible for Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, also experienced layoffs in December, many reportedly linked to their support of Suicide Squad's post-launch DLC. The game's underperformance casts a shadow on Rocksteady's otherwise impressive track record, highlighting the risks associated with live-service titles. The final update, expected later this month, marks the apparent end of support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
