This game breaks the mold by being set in a fictional Japanese town, Ebisugaoka, inspired by the real town of Kanayama in Gero, Gifu Prefecture. The developers meticulously recreated the town, focusing on its intricate alleyways, and utilized reference photos, everyday life sounds, and historical materials to authentically capture the essence of 1960s Japan.

The storyline follows Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life turns nightmarish when her town is enveloped in an eerie fog, transforming into a horror-filled labyrinth.
