Ananta: NetEase's Open-World RPG Unveiled
NetEase Games and Naked Rain's Project Mugen has officially been revealed as Ananta, an urban, open-world RPG. A new promotional video (PV) and teaser trailer showcase gameplay and the game's striking visuals.
The preview offers a clearer picture of Ananta's world, characters, and the looming threat of chaotic forces from beyond. Nova City, a sprawling metropolis, serves as the game's expansive setting, populated by a diverse cast of characters battling against these encroaching entities.
While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta distinguishes itself, especially in its fluid movement system. The PV highlights impressive traversal mechanics, leaving open the question of whether the city's exploration will involve instanced areas or allow for more dynamic, Spider-Man-style movement across the cityscape.
Ananta's blend of charming characters and dynamic combat aligns with current trends in 3D RPGs. However, its ultimate success hinges on its ability to carve its own niche and potentially challenge the dominance of established 3D gacha RPGs.
