Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Unveiled
A new trailer from Bandai Namco showcases the gameplay and significant improvements in Freedom Wars Remastered. This action RPG, originally a PlayStation Vita exclusive, now arrives on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC on January 10th, boasting enhanced visuals and gameplay mechanics.
The game, set in a resource-depleted dystopian world, puts players in the role of a "Sinner," sentenced to complete missions for their Panopticon (city-state). These missions, tackling everything from rescuing citizens to battling massive mechanical creatures called Abductors, can be undertaken solo or cooperatively online. The core gameplay loop—battling Abductors, harvesting parts, and upgrading gear—remains, but with significant enhancements.
Freedom Wars Remastered significantly upgrades the original's visuals, offering 4K resolution at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC, 1080p at 60 FPS on PS4, and 1080p at 30 FPS on Switch. Beyond the graphical leap, the game features faster-paced combat thanks to increased movement speed and improved attack cancellation mechanics.
The crafting and upgrade systems receive a complete overhaul, featuring more intuitive interfaces and the ability to freely attach and detach modules. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance their equipment using resources obtained from rescued citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to experienced players, and all original customization DLC is included from launch. The trailer effectively highlights these improvements, promising a more streamlined and engaging experience for both newcomers and returning players.
