Escape Academy, a critically acclaimed escape-room style puzzle game, is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, 2025. This marks the fourth free game offered by the EGS in 2025 and, boasting an 80 average score and 88% recommendation rate on OpenCritic, is set to be the highest-rated free game offered so far this year.

Available for one week, from January 16th to 23rd, Escape Academy challenges players to hone their escape room skills as students at the titular academy. Developed by Coin Crew Games, the game launched in July 2022 and offers both solo and engaging online/split-screen multiplayer experiences, praised as one of the best co-op puzzle games recently. The game's positive reception extends beyond critics, with "Very Positive" Steam reviews and high ratings on PlayStation and Xbox stores.

This isn't Escape Academy's first appearance as an EGS freebie; it was previously offered on January 1st, 2024. However, this giveaway provides a full week of access, conveniently timed for Xbox Game Pass subscribers as the game is slated to leave the service on January 15th.
