VNeID: Electronic Identification and Authentication Application

The VNeID application is developed by Vietnam's National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security. It utilizes national population data for identification and electronic authentication purposes.

The VNeID app is designed for individuals living in or traveling within Vietnam.

The VNeID application serves as a digital replacement for physical documents, enabling citizen identification in the digital environment. It provides utilities to support digital citizenship, digital government, and a digital society, assisting users in submitting health declarations and domestic travel declarations quickly. Furthermore, the app aids authorities in tracing secondary COVID-19 infections and promptly notifying the public.

Access: By using this Application, the User consents to grant the app access to the following device functions:

(1) Internet access from the user's device.

(2) Camera access to scan the QR code on a Citizen Identification Card, speeding up the entry of basic citizen information, and to scan QR codes at checkpoints for rapid travel and health declarations.

(3) Access to Photos, Videos, Audio, and Files on the device to store QR code images for presentation at citizen checkpoints.

(4) Sending notifications to the user's device.

Collection of Personal Information: Users input data, declare health information, report domestic travel, or declare on behalf of others with their explicit permission and consent. Collected personal information includes: Full Name, Phone Number, Citizen Identification Number, Gender, Year of Birth, Permanent Address, Nationality, Health Status, Place of Departure, Destination, Vehicle License Plate Number, and history of exposure to individuals with COVID-19. All information is collected with the user's consent through form submission.

Users are solely responsible for their legal capacity and the accuracy of the information they provide.

Privacy and Copyright Protection: User data is stored and secured by the National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security. It is used exclusively for COVID-19 prevention and control to protect public health. Data is never used for commercial purposes or to infringe on private life. Data may be shared with Health Authorities and other competent agencies to enhance COVID-19 prevention efforts.

Beyond the stated purposes, the application developer does not collect or use user information for any other reason. The developer will not disclose any information in a manner that could cause harm or constitute an illegal invasion of privacy under Vietnamese law or app policy.

- No Location Collection: VNeID does not collect data regarding your geographical location.

- Anonymity: Users interact anonymously within the community. Only competent authorities can identify infected individuals or those suspected of close contact with a COVID-19 case for tracing purposes.
