The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Premiere Date Revealed at IGN Fan Fest 2025
IGN Fan Fest 2025 delivered an exclusive first look at The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2, announcing its premiere date: May 4, 2025. The reveal included an exclusive clip and interviews with Scott Gimple (Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan).
Cohan offered insight into Maggie's emotional state entering Season 2: "Sadly, not everything is as idyllic as one might hope," she explained, highlighting the relatable family tensions amidst the apocalyptic setting. "My son's a teenager, and there's Ginny to care for. We're dealing with everyday family dynamics alongside the usual survival challenges – finding food, shelter, and sleep – before the next big threat emerges."
Morgan discussed Negan's precarious position: "Negan's firmly under the control of The Dama and The Croat, in unfamiliar territory," he revealed. "He'll scheme his way out, of course, but he's not enjoying this. He's struggling at the season's start, always plotting, but definitely in a tough spot." He also reflected on Lucille, his iconic barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat: "Lucille...what can I say? I love that thing! It's the only prop I've ever enjoyed carrying around. It brings back fond memories...not for Lauren!"
Gimple shed light on the Season 2 conflict: "There isn't one singular big bad. The power dynamics shift throughout the season. It's more complex, more political, and then it gets physical."
IGN also unveiled the opening minutes of Season 2's premiere episode.
