Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week

Sony is gearing up to host its customary February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week, according to leaker NateTheHate, who previously accurately predicted the reveal date for Nintendo's Switch 2. The event is slated to take place during Valentine's Day week, from February 10 to 14.

As anticipation builds, speculation is rife about what Sony might unveil. A review of Sony's announced first-party titles slated for 2025 provides some clues. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, expected in 2025, might offer a new gameplay reveal or even a release date. Bungie's PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, could make an appearance if playtesting is on the horizon this year. Haven Studios' debut game, Fairgames, and Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, are also possibilities. Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine could also be showcased. Fans are particularly eager for a fresh trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is set to launch in 2025.

However, don't expect to see any of the recently canceled live service games from Sony. Last month, Sony pulled the plug on two unannounced live service projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, with the latter reportedly being a live-service God of War game. While the nature of Bend Studio's project remains undisclosed, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon game reportedly survived the cuts and might be ready for a reveal.

Turning to third-party announcements, Hideo Kojima's upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, Physint, seems a bit premature for a showcase, but Phantom Blade Zero, the action RPG from Chinese studio S-Game, could be a more likely candidate.

Additionally, with Microsoft now a major publisher on PlayStation platforms, there's potential for news on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, possibly including a release date. There's also speculation about whether Microsoft might use the State of Play to announce Halo's arrival on PlayStation.

Looking back at last year's State of Play can offer insight into what to expect. The event featured titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine’s Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
