Despite a vibrant pre-launch crossover event showcasing beloved Sega classics like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, Sonic Rumble's global debut is being postponed. Initially set for a full launch with an impressive 1.4 million pre-registrations, Sega has decided to delay the release to refine the game further.
The delay coincides with the development of the version 1.2 update, which is set to enhance Sonic Rumble's toybox world with exciting new features. This update will introduce Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills, enriching the gameplay experience. Rumble Rankings will allow players to compete on seasonal leaderboards for rewards, while Crews enable cooperative score missions with friends. The Skills system will add strategic depth by equipping characters with unique abilities.
Rather than releasing these updates mid-launch, Sega is taking extra time to ensure everything is polished. Fans can stay engaged through a Q&A session scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where they can learn about upcoming developments and ask their questions directly.
While awaiting Sonic Rumble's release, you might enjoy exploring other top battle royale games available on iOS.
The delay won't affect the pre-registration rewards, which include 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the Movie Sonic skin for reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration mark. These rewards will be available once the game launches.
