Ubisoft appears to be dealing with a run of misfortune regarding its unannounced title, Project U. Gameplay details started emerging as early as 2022, soon after closed beta tests commenced. These leaks have reappeared two years later, indicating the project remains active and in development. Now, following what seems like a development reboot, an introductory cinematic has been leaked online.
The source and legitimacy of the cinematic have not been officially verified. It was posted by blogger Shaun Weber, who is known for previously leaking gaming information. Weber suggested that more Project U videos could be released if the game's development continues for an extended period.
Project U is anticipated to be a session-based cooperative shooter, with its developers inspired by the achievements of Helldivers 2. Judging from the leaked material, the narrative involves an alien machine invasion of Earth, where players assume the roles of selected heroes fighting this otherworldly menace.
Currently, there is still no official announcement regarding when Ubisoft intends to formally reveal Project U.
