This Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM (local time), the spotlight shines on Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb! Prepare for a double dose of catching and shiny hunting. Both Pokémon offer valuable combat advantages, especially when extra damage is needed.
Given the two Pokémon featured, be sure to load up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. These items significantly boost your chances of catching shinies and powering up your catches. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage – you'll be catching a lot!
Voltorb (#100 in the Kanto Pokédex) is a Generation 1 Pokémon, tradable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching one yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode with 50 candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch.
As an Electric-type, Voltorb takes increased damage from Ground-type moves (160% damage) and reduced damage from Electric, Flying, and Steel types (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits discovery.
Hisuian Voltorb (#100, also Kanto Generation 1, tradable and transferable to Pokémon Home) is Voltorb's regional variant. Catching it also rewards 3 candies and 100 Stardust, and it evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 candies. Its stats mirror Voltorb's (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack). While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ.
Hisuian Voltorb takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison types (160% damage), and reduced damage from Grass, Steel, and Water types (63% damage), and Electric types (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt (5.39 DPS, 37.60 TDO). Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather enhance its damage output. This Pokémon has a black Shiny variant.
