PlayStation Unveils Anime Adaptations and Film at CES Event

PlayStation Productions at CES 2025: A Wave of Game Adaptations

At CES 2025, PlayStation Productions made a splash, announcing several new game adaptations slated for release in 2025 and beyond. The announcements, made on January 7th, 2025, included anime, movies, and a new season of a popular TV series.

New Adaptations Unveiled:

• Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime: A new anime series, a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Aniplex, is set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, Gen Urobuchi handles story composition, and Sony Music provides the soundtrack.

• Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 Films: Movie adaptations of these popular titles are underway. Sony Pictures will produce the Horizon Zero Dawn film, while Columbia Pictures will handle Helldivers 2. Details remain scarce.

• Until Dawn Film: A film adaptation of Until Dawn is confirmed for release on April 25, 2025.

• The Last of Us Season Two: Neil Druckmann revealed a new trailer for season two of The Last of Us, which will adapt the storyline from The Last of Us Part II, introducing characters like Abby and Dina.

Past Successes and Future Projects:

PlayStation Productions’ track record includes successful film adaptations like Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023), and the Twisted Metal series (2023). While the reception of earlier adaptations like Resident Evil and Silent Hill was mixed, their box office success paved the way for PlayStation Productions.

Beyond the CES announcements, PlayStation Productions continues work on Days Gone and Uncharted sequels, along with a God of War TV series.
