Persona5: The Phantom X officially launches today. For those unfamiliar, it’s the sleek, rebellious experience that propelled the Persona series to global fame. This new chapter honors that legacy with a fresh cast of characters who are both defiant and cool.

Persona5: The Phantom X Brings a Fresh Chapter

The game follows a new hero who awakens from a nightmare into a reality twisted by darkness and despair. Soon, he encounters a remarkably articulate owl named Lufel, a mysterious woman in blue, and a long-nosed man.

As the protagonist balances an ordinary school life with battles in the Metaverse and haunting trips to the Velvet Room, his mission becomes clear: seize the distorted desires of corrupt individuals and reveal their true nature.

Persona5: The Phantom X—also known as P5X—retains the series’ iconic turn-based combat. A new, flexible team-building system lets you assemble squads around Wonder and three main allies, supported by a Navigator.

By stacking characters or Personas that share the same attributes, players activate Harmony—a tactical feature that increases damage output for those traits. Since Wonder can swap Personas mid-fight, you can adapt which Harmony effects are active during combat.

Character progression in Persona5: The Phantom X revolves around Arcana Cards, which replace traditional armor and accessories. These cards enhance key stats such as HP, Attack, and Speed. This marks a shift from Persona 5, where players had just one armor and one accessory slot.

The game also offers a mix of casual and challenging gameplay across seven distinct modes. More relaxed options include Heart Rail, Tycoon, Tartarus, and Velvet Trials. For endgame players seeking greater challenges, there are Sea of Souls Trials, Door of Nightmares, and Astrolabe Trials.
