Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki displayed a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has officially refuted the claims. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report Nintendo's statement that the images and videos are unofficial and that Genki did not receive the hardware from Nintendo.
Genki's Claims
Genki, a US-based manufacturer of electronics and video game accessories, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting a 3D-printed model of the anticipated Switch 2. They further asserted possession of a functional Switch 2 unit and even hinted at a release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup.
Nintendo's Response
Nintendo, however, maintains silence regarding concrete details about the Switch 2, stating only that an official announcement is forthcoming. The only confirmed detail from Nintendo is the Switch 2's backward compatibility with Switch 1 games. This recent controversy might accelerate Nintendo's official unveiling of the console.
