New Magic: The Gathering Cards Revealed for Final Fantasy Set

June might seem like a distant dream for fans of Magic: The Gathering eagerly awaiting the new Final Fantasy set, but the wait just got a little easier. Today, Wizards of the Coast has given us an exciting sneak peek at over a dozen never-before-seen cards from the set. Iconic characters such as Sephiroth, Yuffie, Cecil, Garland, Chaos, and more are showcased, sparking excitement across the community.

This initial reveal not only includes a variety of new cards but also features art variations and the previously unveiled four commander cards: Tidus, Cloud, Y'shtola, and Terra. Among the highlights are powerful legendary figures like Sephiroth and Cecil, a fresh Food token design, and art variations on cards such as Stilzkin, Moogle Merchant; Sin, Spira's Punishment; and Summon: Shiva. Today's reveal also introduces some unique features of the set, including the innovative Summons mechanism, marking Magic's first-ever Saga creatures that players can summon for assistance in battle (check out Summon: Shiva in the gallery). Moreover, the set brings back double-faced cards, exemplified by Cecil's dual roles as Dark Knight and Redeemed Paladin.

In total, the Final Fantasy set will boast over 100 legendary creature cards, including 55 legendary borderless cards illustrated by fan-favorite artists from the rich history of Final Fantasy.

Set to be fully draftable and Standard-legal, the Final Fantasy set will launch on June 13, alongside four preconstructed Commander decks. Each deck, themed around a different Final Fantasy game (6, 7, 10, and 14), will contain 100 cards, blending new Final Fantasy cards with existing cards reimagined with fresh Final Fantasy art. The anticipation for this set is palpable, promising a thrilling blend of two beloved universes.
