Crunchyroll's Android app now features Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has made its way to consoles and now mobile devices via Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll members can download it for free.
The Kardboard Kings Experience:
Players step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his card-collecting father's shop and the legacy of the Warlock card game. His business partner? Giuseppe, a surprisingly shrewd cockatoo with a talent for deal-making.
Set in a charming seaside location, Harry must navigate the complexities of customer satisfaction (or, if inclined, the art of the subtle swindle). The game boasts charming characters, witty dialogue, and references to other card games and anime. Over 100 uniquely illustrated cards, including shiny variants, add to the appeal.
Gameplay Mechanics:
The core gameplay loop revolves around the classic "buy low, sell high" principle. However, Kardboard Kings adds layers of complexity with fluctuating card conditions, set rarities, foil finishes, and fluctuating card popularity, all impacting value.
A roguelite deckbuilding mode on Card Game Island introduces challenging duels, tournament hosting, booster pack parties, and clearance sales to manage inventory.
Crunchyroll subscribers can download Kardboard Kings from the Google Play Store. For more gaming news, check out our article on LOK Digital's intriguing language puzzles.
