CD Projekt Red, the creators behind The Witcher 4, have taken to The Witcher's official Twitter (X) on April 16 to alert fans about a widespread scam involving fake beta test invitations. The developer clarified that any reported beta test invitations for The Witcher 4 are fraudulent.

Their statement emphasized, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."

CD Projekt Red assured that any future beta tests would be announced first on The Witcher's official channels.

First Revealed in December 2024

The Witcher 4 was unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, with a trailer spotlighting the game's new protagonist, Ciri. This shift from the series' traditional hero, Geralt, sparked widespread discussion within the gaming community.

In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4 Narrative Director Phillipp Weber addressed the fan reaction to Ciri taking the lead role. Acknowledging fans' attachment to Geralt, Weber stated, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."

The Witcher 4 Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed appreciation for the community's passion and support. He commented, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."

The developers are promising that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious entry in the series yet, featuring new regions and monsters.
